For SMEs reporting voluntarily
Report on sustainability voluntarily, in proportion to your business
The CSRD doesn’t apply to you, but your bank, investors or customers still ask. We help you put together a CO2 footprint and a VSME report that fit the size of your company.
What you get
The VSME, sized for you
The voluntary EU standard for SMEs has a basic module and an optional comprehensive module. We help you choose what makes sense for your business and leave out what doesn’t
A CO2 footprint you can explain
Scope 1 and 2, plus the scope 3 categories that matter most for your business, with clear assumptions so you can repeat the calculation next year
Ready for your bank’s questions
Banks and investors increasingly ask for ESG data when you apply for a loan or other financing. We help you have the figures ready before they ask
Obligations and opportunities in one view
We check where the energy-saving obligation, the CO2 Performance Ladder or tender requirements come into play for you, and how they connect
Something your team can keep up
A short list of indicators and a simple process your own people can maintain, without a reporting system built for a large company

Why we do what we do
Read the film as text
- We all want to know
- our place in the world.
- Thin grey lines join dots into a web.
- We like to believe that what we do is part of something larger.
- It is.
- Together we make our surroundings, our brands, our communities.
- We shape the work of others, as they shape ours.
- The web grows dense.
- We live in one web of cause and consequence.
- Each path tells a story, part of a larger narrative.
- A system of meaning.
- So what is our impact?
- Whose lives do we touch?
- What changed? For whom? How much? And what part was ours?
- Intended or not, for better or worse.
- Knowing that changes what you do next.
- A dark line draws a path through the web. Impact management helps you see it, steer it, and use it.
- A large word: Lead. A purple path runs through the web. Lead with purpose, and fund your mission.
- A large word: Improve. A green path runs through the web. Learn what doesn’t work and design for better.
- A large word: Engage. A blue-green path runs through the web. Share your story, and bring others into it.
- A large word: Account. A blue path runs through the web. State your claim, and prove it.
- A large word: Discover. A yellow path runs through the web. Find your next impact before it happens.
- “How do you measure impact?”
- It sounds hard.
- It isn’t.
- It’s not about the how.
- It’s about
- Portraits of people fill the screen.
- A large word: Who.
- About rights-holders, whose lives are touched.
- And stakeholders, whose choices shape them.
- The people stand side by side, at the same height. A wave of colour runs through the web. Every voice, every perspective, equally weighed.
- The web turns many colours. Pluriform and equivalent.
- Who determines what.
- And what determines how.
- That’s it. No more, no less.
- We count what can be counted, and listen to the rest.
- Coloured paths wind across the web. We find the stories that connect the dots, and make sense of the whole.
- We love our craft:
- to ask the questions,
- to measure what matters,
- and narrate what works.
- One dark path remains. Let’s reveal your path.
- The word narrate, with the line: impact in numbers and stories.
What we often hear
“The bank wants ESG information for our new loan, and I don’t know what they expect.”
We find out what your bank is asking and why, gather what you already have and help you give a clear answer, preferably along the lines of the VSME so you can reuse it
“I want to know our CO2 footprint, but every calculator gives a different answer.”
We help you choose a recognised method such as the GHG Protocol, calculate scope 1 and 2, and select the scope 3 categories that matter most for your business
“We are considering the CO2 Performance Ladder for tenders. Is it worth the effort?”
We look at your tender pipeline and at what certification would involve for you, so you can make an informed decision
“We may fall under the energy-saving obligation. What exactly does it ask of us?”
We help you check whether it applies and connect the energy-saving measures to your CO2 footprint, so the two efforts support each other
“We want to take sustainability seriously, but with a small team we can’t do everything at once.”
We help you pick the few topics that matter most for your business and the people who ask about them, and start there
What you may be wondering
Why report if I don’t have to?
Because your bank, customers or investors ask anyway. With one carbon footprint and a short VSME report, you answer those questions once instead of every time.
What does it cost, and how much time does it take from my team?
A discovery costs €2,500–8,000, depending on the size of your business. After that you decide how far to go. We keep it to a short list of figures your own people can maintain.
Every calculator gives a different answer. Which method should I use?
We use the GHG Protocol for your carbon footprint and the VSME for your report. We record the assumptions, so you can repeat the calculation next year and compare.
To read
- The CSRD after the Omnibus: what changed, and for whom
The European reporting duty will apply to far fewer companies. What changed, for whom, and which questions remain.
- Your customer sends a sustainability questionnaire. Where do you start?
A large customer wants figures about your company, with a deadline. This is how we approach it: answer honestly, and keep the work for the next customer.
- Does impact come off the peg?
Standards such as the CSRD, the VSME and IRIS+ make reports comparable. That is useful, and at times necessary. But whatever does not fit the size gets trimmed away.
Start with an overview of who asks what
In an impact maturity discovery we list what your bank, customers and tenders ask for, and what you already have. Afterwards you know which figures you need first.
Explore how we could work together
The collaboration explorer is already set up for SMEs reporting voluntarily. Answer a few short questions and see which forms of collaboration fit, with a rough price level.
